The Sultanate of Oman announces good news to all citizens, residents and migrant workers regarding citizenship in the Sultanate of Oman and the conditions for its naturalization starting next month… Great decisions.

The Sultanate of Oman has a strong economy, an excellent medical system, and high-quality education, which reinforces the importance of obtaining Omani citizenship. The Omani government amended some conditions of the Union’s executive regulations related to obtaining Omani citizenship and the Omani passport.

Categories eligible to obtain Omani citizenship

1-Investors:
An individual investor wishing to obtain Omani citizenship must own a property in the Sultanate of Oman.

2-Doctors:
As for the doctor, he must be part of a medical team specialized in a unique, desirable, and important medical field.

Participation in research and studies of scientific value in the field of specialization.

The doctor’s scientific experience must not be less than ten years.

Obtaining membership in one of the most prestigious organizations in the field of specialization.

3- Scientist/Researcher:
In order for a scientist to obtain Omani citizenship, he must be an active scientist in his field at the scientific research center, at the university, or in the sector to which he belongs.

His academic experience should not be less than ten years in his field of specialization.

Having contributions in his scientific field.

Obtaining valuable scientific awards, or obtaining insurance for research of great value during the past ten years.

3-Inventors:
You must obtain a patent certificate or several reliable certificates accredited by the Ministry of Economy in the country, or from any of the international bodies that represent added value to the economy of the Sultanate of Oman.

Obtaining a stamped certificate/letter of recommendation from the Ministry of Economy.

4-Gifted people, artists, and intellectuals:
The person must be in the talent category in one of the priority fields in the Sultanate of Oman.

Controls for obtaining Omani citizenship.
There are a set of controls set by the government of the Sultanate of Oman to obtain citizenship, which must be adhered to, and they are as follows:

Taking the oath of allegiance to the Sultanate of Oman.

Compliance with the laws of the Sultanate of Oman imposed in the country.

Reporting cases of him obtaining another nationality, or losing the nationality he held.

Does the Sultanate of Oman naturalize newborns?
In order for the child to obtain Omani citizenship, the mother must have resided in Oman for a period of no less than six years and the date of the child’s birth. The mother must have held Omani nationality  since her childhood, meaning the mother must already be an Emirati citizen in order to be able to pass on Omani nationality  to her children. .

Does buying a property in Dubai grant residency?
Yes, according to the Omani Visa and Real Estate Investment Law, purchasing a property in the Emirate of Dubai can be an indication of an individual obtaining Omani citizenship, but the value of the property upon purchase must be equal to one million UAE dirhams, and individuals who have purchased a property can act as a guarantor for their families.

How much will it cost to live in the Sultanate of Oman in 2023?
The cost of a residence visa in the Sultanate of Oman for one year is approximately 195 Omani riyals, the cost of a residence visa for two continuous years is 295 dirhams, and the cost of a residence visa for three years in the Sultanate of Oman is 395 dirhams.
